Orlando, FL - February 23, 2014 - Moberg was invited by the Department of Defense (DOD) to show progress on its medical device simulator project at the annual meeting of the Healthcare Information Systems Society (HIMSS), February 23-26, in Orlando. Funded by the DOD, the simulator provides a way to verify the communications between a medical device and a medical record or other “receiver” of the device data.
Presently, medical devices have no way to send test signals for the alarms and system information that devices generate when connected to a patient. It is also difficult to use many devices to send a range of patient data sufficient to test the limits of the receiving system. Moberg’s medical device simulator can accept “plug-ins” for devices and can simulate the simultaneous transmission of data from multiple devices. The user programs the simulator to send all the data, alarms, alerts, and other information that each device communicates.
The demonstration of Moberg's simulator will take place in the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS sponsored by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and the Federal Health Architecture (FHA).
